Community Organizing Manager - Oxnard

Mixteco/Indígena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) seeks to hire a Community Organizing Manager. The Community Organizing Manager is responsible for overseeing specific programs in the Community Organizing Department. Work locations for this role are chosen based on specific program needs. The person in this position works closely with community organizers to bring awareness to the farmworker community and to organize and address labor issues such as occupational health and safety, paid sick leave, workers’ compensation, retaliation, farm workers’ rights, and others, as needed. Managers and community organizers work together to support farm workers’ actions to achieve better work conditions.

The manager collaborates with agencies and represents MICOP at various social/labor justice events. In addition, a person in this role oversees a team of community organizers and works to meet program goals.

The primary responsibility in this position is to create and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the organization’s mission and financial goals. Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) seeks to hire a coordinator for the Opportunities for Youth (OFY) program. MICOP’s Opportunities for Youth (OFY) program takes a trauma-informed, youth-centered approach to supporting indigenous & non-indigenous Undocumented Unaccompanied Minors living in Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties. A majority of the youth experience trauma due to a number of reasons, including arriving in the US after being forced to leave their home countries, being held in immigrant detention, being separated from their families, the isolation of living in a new country, as well as the pressures of navigating the US immigration system.

Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) seeks to hire a Director of Behavioral Wellness. The Program Director is responsible for supervising and overseeing the implementation and coordination of all of MICOP’s Behavioral Wellness programs. This position facilitates access to mental health services for the indigenous migrant and Latinx immigrant communities by providing direct mental health support and outreach via MICOP’s behavioral wellness programs (currently funded by the State of California and Ventura County Behavioral Health (VCBH).
