Voz de la Mujer Indigena

Women Speaking to Crowd

MICOP’s Blue Shield of California Foundation training program, Voz de la Mujer Indigena, accepts only survivors of domestic abuse into this peer promotora program.  All 10 trainees are graduates of MICOP’s domestic violence support group, Living with Love, and all have achieved stability in their lives following the experience of domestic violence.  Trainees learn to speak of their own experience to other indigenous men and women, encouraging families to seek support if they are experiencing similar violence.  Through Voz de la Mujer Indigena, MICOP is also building a network to support Ventura County’s domestic violence providers in reaching and serving the indigenous community.
