MICOP Celebrates 20 Years!
Dear MICOP friends and familia,
We at MICOP hope 2021 continues to find you safe and well! As we continue navigating the heaviness of the COVID-19 pandemic we would like to offer a light and a reason to celebrate and give gratitude.
This year, MICOP turns 20!
Exactly 20 years ago, in 2001 MICOP’s founder Sandra Young, FNP, alongside Mixtec leaders and non-indigenous advocates, launched the Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP). The initial vision to assist the growing migrant farm working & indigenous community with higher education, health services, social justice and human rights advocacy has grown into 20 years of supporting, advocacy and empowerment that has touched the lives of thousands of indigenous migrants across multiple generations of families. We invite you to celebrate this achievement with us.
Please SAVE THE DATE and join us at our upcoming events, including our signature event Night in Oaxaca, a RadioTon celebration of Guelaguetza on Radio Indigena 94.1FM and our annual Indigenous Knowledge conference.
We will see you (virtually) soon!
