Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project
Aiding and empowering indigenous Oaxacan immigrants in Ventura County.

  MICOP Involvement Opportunities

We have many great volunteer opportunities for adults as well as children.  You can help us:

• distribute food and diapers at our monthly meetings

• work with children at our monthly meetings

• get fruit and vegetables for the monthly meetings at Food Share

• solicit new members, volunteers, and community donors

• help with the Guelaguetza festivities

We welcome monetary donations to help Ventura County's indigenous Oaxacan community achieve self-sufficiency.

• Friend:            $35 - $99

• Advocate:      $100 - $249

• Patron:           $250 - $499

• Benefactor:    $500 - $999

• Angel:             $1000 and above

MICOP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by current IRS requirements.
Donations of new or gently used clothing, food, disposable diapers, small toys and small appliances are always welcome.

The preferred food donations are dried pinto beans, plain white rice and Maseca (a brand of masa used for tortillas).

Small kitchen appliances such as blenders and toasters are appreciated. We specify "small" for toys and appliances because, unfortunately, there isn't enough room in the homes for bigger items. For the same reason we cannot accept donations of furniture.

Any donations can be brought to our monthly meetings after 3 p.m. on the day of the meeting (please see meeting schedule). To make other arrangements for donations or for more information about volunteering, please contact Donna at donna.foster@mixteco.org or call 805/320-0118.
