ANNUAL SALARY: $17/hr. – $18/hr./ 30 hrs. per week

Organization Summary:

Founded in 2001, Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) supports, organizes and empowers Ventura County’s indigenous immigrant communities through improved access to health and community resources, community organizing and advocacy, education, direct assistance, cultural promotion, and Radio Indígena. 

Position Summary:

Conexion Con Mis Compañeras is a Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) program contracted out to MICOP by the Ventura County Behavioral Health’s Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Program.

Conexion Con Mis Compañeras aims to decrease the stigma Latina and indigenous women face when seeking and utilizing mental health services.  Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director, the Conexion Con Mis Compañeras Project Coordinator is responsible for the planning of outreach, workshop, referral and follow-up activities that MICOP mental health outreach workers (promotoras) execute every month.  Additionally, the Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining an updated data tool and reporting it to the project grantors. The Conexion Con Mis Compañeras Project coordinator is a 30 hours a- week position.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and understand the mental health system in Ventura County
  • Work and communicate with the grantor (VCBH)
  • Coordinate all project activities
  • Oversee the work of Latina and Indigenous mental health outreach workers (promotoras) and ensure the activities (workshops, outreach, follow-up, referrals) are executed
  • Create outreach plan for promotoras
  • Coordinate the Mujeres y Nuestro Bienestar Emocional workshops
  • Create flyers/brochures and update them as needed
  • Coordinate and facilitate monthly meetings with promotoras
  • Coordinate trainings for promotoras as needed in mental health topics
  • Support promotoras in outreach and workshops when needed
  • Support promotoras in referral services to outside agencies and organizations (case management)
  • Plan and request facilities for the use of workshops and meetings
  • Fulfill reporting requirements for project grantors
  • Manage data-input for the project 
  • Track activities and success stories
  • Represent MICOP at quarterly grantee meetings
  • Other duties may be assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

 

  • Commitment to MICOP’s mission
  • BA or AA in Psychology or related humanities degree OR experience in the mental health sector
  • Strong public-speaking skills
  • Interpersonal communication skills
  • Spanish and English required, Mixteco language is a plus
  • Some supervision/leadership experience
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience with Excel and Publisher
  • Experience in data-management
  • Flexibility in schedule
